Mrs. Kettmann's Behavior Policy

To promote academic and social growth for students, a system of positive discipline will be used in the classroom at all times.  Behavior expectations and consequences need to be clearly understood by students, parents, and teachers.

The method of discipline used is fair, firm, and consistent, non-emotional, productive, and provides a high level of school-home communication. Logical and natural consequences are used when disciplining a child.
Please sign up for Class Dojo.  This tool will help us stay better connected, and you will be able to see your child's daily progress!

Consequences

Expectations are clearly and consistently modeled and reinforced in the classroom.  If a student does not follow one of the school rules he/she will be prompted to “refocus”.  The child will then complete a refocus ticket to reflect on his/her actions.

# of Tickets     Consequence
  1                             Warning
  2                             Teacher’s Choice

  3                             Parent Contact

Tickets will be sent home the day they are completed.  Please take time to discuss the incident with your child and sign the bottom of the ticket.  The ultimate goal is for your child to understand their action and know how to solve the problem differently should the same situation present itself. I want your child to know that we are all working together.  You will see a notification on Class Dojo when your child receives a refocus ticket.

rewards

This year we will be working on class-building activities. My goal is for all of my students to feel confident, successful, and comfortable in a supportive learning environment.  The whole class will work together to fill a jar with class gems.  Every time the class receives a compliment or works together as a collective group, a handful of gems will be put into the jar.  When the jar is full the class will have a party.

Students will be working in teams throughout the school year, learning how to work cooperatively, make plans, and problem solve.  Each team will work to earn team points.

Students will also be recognized for individual behavior.  When the student is caught being a SHARK, they will move their clip on the behavior chart.
